Units and Properties

In the context of Greenhouse PM, a Unit is essentially any piece of property that can be used as a dwelling. This would typically be a house, apartment, condominium, etc.

Units can either stand alone (like a house), or be part of a larger Property (like an apartment or condominium). In this context, a Property is essentially a container for multiple Units and can either be something real or something you make up to help you organize your units.

For example, if I owned a small 40-unit apartment complex called “Greenhouse Apartments”, I could create a Property called “Greenhouse Apartments” and then add all 40 Units to this Property. The Property itself can have it’s own address, say “123 Greenhouse Way”, and each Unit in this Property will have their own addresses, like “123 Greenhouse Way Unit 101”.

Where this structure really comes into play is on the Greenhouse PM Overview. On the Overview, your units will be grouped into the Properties that they belong to (stand-alone Units are placed in a group called “Free-Standing”). Within these groups, you can see which units have rent due, get a quick year-to-date financial status, and click-through to all open work orders for that Property.
